Newly Revised Emotive Atlas and Cerebral Gazetteer began with an image of Tadao Ando’s Ibaraki Church. Following a strong experimental impulse, I worked openly, aware of my shifting perception of environment and how it might shape the image over a course of additions and revisions. Well beyond the original impetus to capture the compelling spiritual space of an architectural master, the work began to reflect personal territories and contexts. Over the broader course of my work, I have discovered certain pieces to be more cerebral, others emotional, and some more directly physical. This piece closely draws on the first two, slowly mapping an invented geography of connected emotions, interwoven with layers of cerebral/intellectual information.
